Kathmandu: The Supreme Court has convicted Gandaki Province Assembly Member Rajib Gurung, also known as Dipak Manange, for attempted murder. The court’s division bench, comprising Justices Nahakul Subedi and Tek Prasad Dhungana, upheld a previous five-year prison sentence issued by the Patan Appellate Court.

Manange, a former provincial minister elected from Manang district, faced charges related to a violent assault that took place two decades ago. In the incident, Manange's group attacked and severed the hand of another gangster, Chakre Milan, reportedly over disputes involving contract bidding and extortion.

The Supreme Court’s decision reinforces the earlier verdict, marking a significant legal outcome in a case tied to long-standing criminal conflicts.
