Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reaffirmed his commitment to uphold Nepal’s international standing and sovereignty during his upcoming participation in the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). Addressing the House of Representatives today, PM Oli outlined key elements of Nepal's foreign policy that will be highlighted in his speech at the assembly.

The Prime Minister emphasized Nepal's non-interference policy, stating that the country does not meddle in the internal affairs of others and expects the same in return, in accordance with the UN Charter. He also reiterated Nepal’s dedication to democratic principles, sovereignty, and its fair national interests, all of which will be central themes in his address.

PM Oli expressed his intent to discuss Nepal's development journey, its challenges, and the importance of international collaboration in achieving prosperity. "Nepal seeks genuine, not artificial, relationships with its neighbors and other nations, standing by the principle of 'friendship with all, enmity with none,'" he remarked.

Following the General Assembly, PM Oli will participate in the 'Future Summit,' where he plans to present Nepal's perspective on global concerns such as the safety of humanity and the environment. He will highlight the impact of climate change on Nepal, particularly the rising sea levels caused by melting mountain snow.

In addition to his participation at the UNGA, the Prime Minister will address academic forums at Columbia University in New York and Harvard University in Boston.

PM Oli assured the House that his participation in these international platforms will focus on representing the best interests of Nepal and its people.
