Kathmandu: The Public Accounts Committee under the House of Representatives has issued directives to the government concerning the sale and purchase of shares of Ncell Axiata Limited, a private mobile service provider in Nepal. The government has been given a 48-hour deadline to make its opinion on the matter public.
Committee Chairperson Rishikesh Pokharel informed that the committee has further directed the government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the issue and take necessary actions within 30 days. The committee has also decided to invite the Prime Minister to the next meeting to gather information on the matter.
Emphasizing the need for the government to address financial manipulation issues and identify loopholes in existing legal systems, the committee has urged the government to submit a bill for necessary revisions and amendments to clarify ambiguities in existing laws at the upcoming meeting.
In a session held on Wednesday, the Public Accounts Committee discussed the sale and purchase of Ncell shares with representatives from the Office of the Company Registrar and the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
