Government Forms High-Level Committee to Investigate Ncell Share Sale Issue

Kathmandu: In response to the ongoing concerns surrounding the sale of Ncell shares, the government of Nepal has established a high-level committee to conduct a thorough investigation. The five-member committee, headed by former Auditor General Tankamani Sharma, has been mandated to present its report within one month, as announced by Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

The committee members include Government Secretary Phanindra Gautam, Joint-Secretary Ritesh Kumar Shakya from the Finance Ministry, Joint-Secretary Baburaj Bhandari from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and ICAN President Sujan Kumar Kafle.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers meeting addressed other appointments, naming Rudra Prasad Gautam as the Chair of the Drinking Water and Tariff Fixation Commission. Yashoda Karki and Kulbhushan Sharma have been appointed as members of the commission.

Furthermore, the meeting formed a talks team led by the Finance Ministry's joint secretary to engage in negotiations regarding the World Bank's proposed assistance for the 'Provincial and Local Road Improvement Programme - first phase.'
