Investigation Underway as High-Level Committee Probes Ncell's Share Sale Controversy

Kathmandu: The high-level committee established to investigate the controversy surrounding the sale of Ncell shares has officially commenced its inquiry, beginning on Sunday. Led by Coordinator Tankamani Sharma, the five-member committee has undertaken the study in line with the government's directive to conclude the investigation within a specified timeframe and submit a comprehensive report with recommendations.

Coordinator Sharma revealed that the committee will engage in discussions with relevant regulatory agencies, government officials, and service provider companies during the investigative process. The committee plans to collect essential documents and information from concerned individuals and organizations, seeking input and suggestions from experts, stakeholders, organizations, and individuals.

An appeal has been made to all parties involved to cooperate with the committee by providing factual information and any evidence related to the Ncell share sale issue.

The committee's secretariat is located at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and it is mandated to present its findings within 30 days of its formation. The government formed the probe panel on December 7, assigning it the task of studying and investigating issues related to Ncell's share and purchase. This includes assessing its compliance with existing laws and examining its impact on revenue collection and foreign investment in Nepal, among other considerations.
