Kathmandu: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has given its nod to the nominations of six individuals to assume the role of judges in the Supreme Court (SC). In a meeting chaired by Pashupati Shumsher Rana, the committee endorsed the recommendations presented by the Judicial Council.
The approved nominees for the SC judgeship are Sarangha Subedi, Abdul Ajij Musalman, Mahesh Sharma Poudel, Tek Prasad Dhungana, Sunil Pokhrel, and Balkrishna Dhakal. Parliamentary hearings for the candidates took place on December 15, 17, and 18, leading to the final endorsement by the Committee.
The Judicial Council had initially put forth the nominations on November 21, marking a crucial step in filling vacancies in the Supreme Court.
