Kathmandu: The air crash investigation commission has submitted its conclusive report to the government on Thursday, determining that the ATR-72 plane of Yeti Airlines crashed in Pokhara on the last day of Magh due to human error.

The report, prepared by the inquiry commission chaired by former secretary Nagendra Prasad Ghimire, was handed over to the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Sudan Kirati. Budhisagar Lamichhane, member secretary of the commission, emphasized that although it was a new airport for the pilot, human error appeared to be the primary factor in the crash.

Commission Chair Nagendra Prasad Ghimire stated that human weakness was the main cause of the ATR-72 airplane crash, with the analysis indicating a higher prevalence of human error. Another contributing factor to the crash was the operationalization of the new airport without complete preparation.

Upon accepting the report, Minister Kirati expressed confidence that the management, regulatory bodies, and the ministry would provide necessary instructions to rigorously implement the recommendations outlined in the report.

The tragic crash resulted in the loss of 72 lives, including four crew members, as the aircraft plunged into the Seti gorge during its landing approach at the newly constructed Pokhara International Airport.
