Kathmandu: Lalitpur City FC emerged victorious in the second edition of the Nepal Super League (NSL) football tournament, securing the championship title. In the final match held at Dasharath Stadium in Tripureswar, Lalitpur defeated Dhangadhi FC with a scoreline of 3-2.
The final was a thrilling contest, with Dhangadhi taking the lead in the 37th minute as Afij Olawale scored a goal. However, Lalitpur responded, and Imoh Ezekiel netted a crucial goal in the extra time of the first half, leveling the score at 1-1.
Dinesh Henjan extended Lalitpur's lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 50th minute, and Imoh Ezekiel secured the victory with his second goal in the 58th minute, making it 3-1. Despite a late effort from Dhangadhi's Ahmed Hijaji, Lalitpur held on to win the match 3-2.
With this win, Lalitpur City FC not only claimed the championship but also earned a cash prize of Rs 7 million. This victory marks Lalitpur's success in the NSL football tournament, with Dhangadhi FC finishing as the runner-up and receiving a cash prize of Rs 2 million.
