Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a warning regarding the escalating temperatures across the country, signaling a potential heatwave in the upcoming days.

With temperatures on the rise in most regions, the Department has urged the public to exercise caution, emphasizing the likelihood of excessively hot conditions and the possible occurrence of heatwaves, particularly in the Tarai belt.

Recent reports indicate that certain areas in Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces have already surpassed 40 degrees Celsius, underscoring the severity of the situation.

To mitigate risks associated with the soaring temperatures, the Department advises individuals to stay indoors whenever possible, refrain from outdoor activities, and maintain adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water.

While certain provinces such as Koshi and Madesh may experience partly cloudy skies, along with hilly regions in other provinces, the overall forecast remains predominantly fair for the rest of the country today.

Furthermore, isolated instances of light rain, thunder, and lightning are anticipated in select hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, as indicated by the Department.

As the nation braces for the impending heatwave, vigilance and adherence to precautionary measures are paramount to ensure the well-being of all citizens amidst the challenging weather conditions.
