Kathmandu: The Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) vaccination campaign has commenced across Nepal today, targeting a total of 1.46 million children.

Abhiyan Gautam, head of the Central Vaccination Campaign, announced that the campaign will be conducted in all 77 districts of the country, and IPV vaccines will be available at regular vaccination centers.

The campaign aims to vaccinate children who missed their regular polio vaccinations between the years 2073 to 2075 BS due to a global shortage of IPV vaccines. Although Nepal began its polio vaccination program in 2071 BS, the hiatus caused by the shortage left a gap that this campaign seeks to fill.

The vaccination drive will continue until June 8, ensuring that all eligible children receive their necessary doses to protect against polio.
