Four Arrested for Arson in Arghakhanchi

Arghakhanchi: The Arghakhanchi Police have arrested four people on charges of arson after a fire they set spread to a settlement and killed four people.

The arrested are locals Dinesh Thapa, 36, Deepak BK, 18, Deviram Belbase, 70, and Dharmaraj Belbase, 36. They have all admitted to setting the fire in an attempt to chase away wild animals, according to District Police Office Chief and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mukunda Rijal.

The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon in Dhakhabang of Bhumikasthan municipality-2. It quickly spread to the settlement, destroying several homes and killing four people. One woman was also injured in the fire and is currently being treated in a hospital.

The arrested men are currently under investigation. If found guilty, they could face a jail term of up to two years or a fine of up to Rs 20,000.
