Kathmandu: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Prabhuram Sharma has affirmed the growing strength of the relations between Nepal and China, particularly emphasizing the cordial ties between the armies of the two nations.

Speaking at a reception hosted by the Chinese Embassy on Sunday evening to mark the 97th Establishment Day of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), COAS Sharma highlighted the historical sacrifices made by the PLA and the recent qualitative improvements in bilateral military relations.

COAS Sharma expressed his gratitude to the Chinese PLA for their military assistance to Nepal, stating that mutual relations, grounded in the principles of Panchsheel, have been further solidified. He reiterated Nepal's commitment to the one-China policy and emphasized Nepal's peace-loving stance and its policy of maintaining friendly relations with all countries.

"Nepal's foreign relations are inspired by the ideal of peace and friendship with all nations," he said, underscoring the country's dedication to harmonious international relations.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, echoed COAS Sharma's sentiments, describing China-Nepal relations as being as strong as mountains. He emphasized China's high priority on its relations with Nepal, which are based on mutual harmony, respect, brotherhood, and the principles of Panchsheel.

Ambassador Chen highlighted the continuous forward movement of China-Nepal relations, driven by mutual trust and cooperation. He also pledged China's ongoing support for Nepal's socio-economic development.

The event was attended by prominent personalities from various sectors of society. A documentary depicting the history and activities of the PLA was also screened, illustrating the long-standing and evolving relationship between the two countries.
