CAVA Volleyball League: Nepal's Historical Win Against India

Kathmandu: In a landmark achievement, Nepal defeated India in the CAVA Women's Volleyball Nations League, marking the first victory of the Nepali women's team over India.

The match, held at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwor, saw Nepal triumph with a 3-2 set victory. Nepal clinched the first set 25-18, the third set 25-17, and the fifth set 15-13, while India secured wins in the second and fourth sets.

The inaugural CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League features teams from India, Iran, the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and host Nepal. The tournament is co-hosted by Nepal and the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA). The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals. Upcoming matches include Sri Lanka versus the Maldives at 3:00 pm on Sunday, followed by Nepal against Iran at 5:15 pm, both at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwor.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli congratulated the Nepali women's volleyball team on social media, celebrating their historic victory against India. "Congratulations to team Nepal," the Prime Minister wrote.

Similarly, CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' extended his congratulations, expressing joy over the team's success. "Nepal has achieved a historic success," Dahal posted on social media. "Congratulations to the Nepalese girls. I extend my heartiest congratulations and best wishes to the Nepalese women's volleyball team who have achieved a historic victory over India in the CAVA Women's Nations League Women's Volleyball."
