Kathmandu: In anticipation of the upcoming festival season, Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police, Tek Prasad Rai, has directed the chiefs of all seven provincial police offices to implement a special security scheme. This directive was issued during a virtual meeting with provincial police chiefs on Tuesday, where Rai emphasized the importance of heightened security measures during festivals like Dashain, Tihar, and Chhath.

AIG Rai instructed the provincial police to strengthen efforts to prevent crimes, monitor suspicious activities, and respond accordingly. He also stressed the need for close coordination with other authorities to reduce the risk of road accidents during the high-travel period. Additionally, Rai called for awareness programs and a stronger crackdown on smuggling, which tends to increase during the festive season.

"The Nepal Police must work towards building greater trust with citizens and enhancing the promptness of civic services," Rai said, underscoring the importance of public safety and community engagement during the holidays.
