Government Declares 41 Local Levels as Disaster-Hit Crisis Zones for Three Months

Kathmandu: The government of Nepal has declared 41 local levels as disaster-hit crisis zones for the next three months following the devastation caused by recent floods and landslides. This decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Friday, according to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The areas designated as crisis zones have been severely affected by floods, landslides, and other rain-induced disasters. The declaration is intended to enhance the efficiency of rescue, relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction efforts in these regions.

List of Affected Areas: In Koshi Province, the following local levels have been declared as crisis zones:

Fidim Municipality, Phalelung Rural Municipality, and Falgunanda Rural Municipality (Panchthar)
Champadevi Rural Municipality and Sunkoshi Rural Municipality (Okhaldhunga)
Bekala Municipality (Udayapur)

In Bagmati Province, the affected areas include:

Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality, Netrawati Dabjong Rural Municipality, Dhunibeshi Municipality, and Gajuri Rural Municipality (Dhading)
Gourishankar Rural Municipality, Bigu Rural Municipality, and Shailung Rural Municipality (Dolakha)
Manthali Municipality, Ramechhap Municipality, Khandadevi Rural Municipality, Dorambha Shailung Rural Municipality, Sunapati Rural Municipality, Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality, Gokulganga Rural Municipality, and Umakunda Rural Municipality (Ramechhap)
Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality (Sindhupalchowk)
Bagmati Rural Municipality, Konjyosom Rural Municipality, and Godawari Municipality (Lalitpur)
Roshi Rural Municipality, Panauti Municipality, Temal Rural Municipality, Namobuddha Municipality, Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, Mandandeupur Municipality, Chauri Deurali Rural Municipality, and Mahabharat Rural Municipality (Kavrepalanchowk)
Golanjor Rural Municipality, Sunkoshi Rural Municipality, and Phikkal Rural Municipality (Sindhuli)
Indrasarobar Rural Municipality and Bakaiya Rural Municipality (Makawanpur)
Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Madi Municipality, and Icchakamana Rural Municipality (Chitwan)
The floods and landslides in these areas caused extensive damage to highways, roads, river basin areas, communication systems, and agricultural infrastructure. Livestock and crops were also swept away, causing significant losses to the agricultural sector.

Minister Gurung emphasized that the declaration of these crisis zones would streamline and expedite the reconstruction and rehabilitation process, enabling local and central governments to effectively address the urgent needs of the affected regions.
