Kathmandu: The Nepal Army has assured that all Nepali troops deployed in Syria under the United Nations peacekeeping mission are safe, despite the Islamist rebel group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) seizing control of the country.
In a press release, the Nepal Army stated that the peacekeepers stationed in various locations, including the 10-A security post in Hadar under the UNDOF mission, remain unharmed. On December 7, HTS forces had forcibly entered the post, but the condition of the Nepali peacekeepers is reported to be normal.
The Nepal Army reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of its personnel while carrying out their responsibilities under the United Nations mandate.
