India Provides Disaster Response Assistance to Nepali Army

Kathmandu: The Government of India has handed over six vehicles, five horses, and two high-quality dogs to the Nepali Army to strengthen its post-disaster search and investigation capabilities.

The assistance was formally handed over by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who is on a two-day official visit to Nepal, during a special ceremony at the Army Headquarters, Jangi Adda, on Friday.

Before the handover event, Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel held a courtesy meeting with Foreign Secretary Misri. According to the Directorate of Military Public Relations and Information, discussions focused on bilateral cooperation, defense relations, and areas of mutual interest between Nepal and India.

Strong Military and Cultural Ties

Nepal and India share a long history of military cooperation, conducting numerous joint training and educational programs annually. The two nations also maintain the unique tradition of conferring the honorary title of Chief of Army Staff on each other’s army chiefs.

Beyond the military domain, the countries share common language, religion, and cultural traditions, along with an open border that has deepened people-to-people ties.

The handover ceremony was attended by Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, senior Nepali Army officers, and other dignitaries.



New
