Kathmandu: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Education Department has initiated a capacity-building program for public school teachers during the winter vacation. The initiative, conducted under the "Teacher College Programme," aims to enhance teachers' qualifications and skills to improve the quality of education in public schools.

Engineer Shailendra Jha, a member of KMC's City Planning Commission, highlighted that the training aligns with the city’s goal of certifying teachers' university qualifications while equipping them with practical skills. "Investment in teachers' capacity building is essential to improving the results of public schools," Jha said, emphasizing that the training utilizes the winter vacation period to ensure educational activities remain unaffected.

The program focuses on fostering creativity and enhancing the knowledge of teachers. Subject-specific training sessions for mathematics, science, social studies, Nepali, English, and economics teachers of grade 10 are scheduled for January 4-5.

Additionally, learning classes for aspiring grade 10 students in mathematics, science, social studies, economics, and other subjects will be held from January 7-20. The curriculum integrates modern teaching methodologies, including technology-based learning, project-based activities, and the use of a teaching management system.

The program also includes training sessions for early childhood development facilitators, set to take place from January 7-12. Furthermore, focal teachers involved in "Bookless Friday" creative learning initiatives will receive specialized training from January 8-17 to enhance skill-based learning methods.

KMC’s efforts aim to strengthen the teaching framework in public schools, ensuring that teachers are well-prepared to deliver quality education and foster a creative learning environment for students.
