Court Grants Five-Day Police Custody for Mishra, Rana, and Others in State Crime Investigation

Kathmandu: The District Court, Kathmandu, has granted five-day police custody for 11 individuals, including Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Rabindra Mishra and lawmaker Dhawal Shamsher Rana, for further investigation into crimes against the state.
They were arrested in connection with the violent incidents at Tinkune, Kathmandu, on Friday.
A bench led by Judge Taradevi Maharjan issued the ruling, allowing authorities to detain those arrested on March 28 for five days and those arrested on March 29 for four days, according to District Court record-keeper Tirtha Raj Bhattarai.
State Crime Charges Considered
The District Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, has indicated that charges related to crimes against the state may be invoked against those arrested on March 28.
District Attorney Chief Ramhari Sharma Kafle also stated that authorities have sought extended police custody for an additional 30 individuals detained on charges of organized crime and criminal activities related to the unrest.
The investigation continues as authorities examine the extent of involvement of the detainees in the Tinkune violence.
