Gaza: Hamas's armed wing, the Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades, released a video Saturday showing Israeli hostage Elkana Bohbot alive and speaking Hebrew via a landline phone.
Bohbot, identified by Israeli media, was abducted during Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack at a music festival in southern Israel—a raid that marked the beginning of the ongoing war in Gaza. In the over four-minute clip, Bohbot is seen in a confined room, reportedly speaking with a friend and family members. He appeals for help, suggesting they take his wife to the White House to meet U.S. President Donald Trump to secure his release.
The authenticity and timing of the video could not be independently verified. It is the third video of Bohbot released by Hamas in recent weeks; in a March video, he directly urged the Israeli government to act for his release.
According to Israeli authorities, 251 hostages were taken during the October 7 attack. Of those, 58 are still held in Gaza, including 34 who the Israeli military believes are dead.
