Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has warned of heavy rainfall across various parts of Nepal due to active monsoon conditions. According to the department, the monsoon low-pressure line is currently positioned north of its average location, resulting in widespread rainfall activity expected today and tomorrow.

This afternoon, most parts of the country will remain mostly cloudy, with moderate rain likely in several areas of Koshi and Madhes provinces, and many places in other provinces. Additionally, the department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as isolated areas in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain cloudy throughout the country. Moderate rainfall is likely in many areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, while some parts of the remaining provinces may also receive rain. Heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in some locations of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces during the night.

Given the risk of rising river levels, floods, and landslides, the department has urged the public—especially those living in riverbanks, low-lying areas, and landslide-prone zones—to remain cautious and stay updated with weather alerts.
