Kathmandu: The influence of westerly winds and a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea has brought cloudy conditions across the country, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division.

The Division reported that this afternoon, moderate rainfall and snowfall are likely in parts of Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces, and in the hilly and mountainous regions of the remaining provinces. Light rain is also expected in one or two areas of the Terai.

There is a possibility of heavy snowfall and rain in high hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces, prompting authorities to urge caution among residents and travelers.

Tonight, the weather will remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali, while the Terai will experience partly cloudy skies. Moderate rainfall and snowfall are also likely in several hilly and mountainous regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali, with isolated precipitation possible in Koshi Province.

The Kathmandu Valley has experienced deteriorating weather since Monday, with intermittent rainfall recorded on Tuesday morning. Although the rain has not been continuous, the drop in temperature has led to a noticeable increase in cold across the valley.
