Kathmandu: Weather across Nepal has been affected by an active western low-pressure system, bringing rain, strong winds and hail in various parts of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division Nepal.

Widespread Impact Across Provinces
The weather has deteriorated from Koshi Province to the far-western region, with gusty winds, rainfall and hailstorms reported in several areas. Strong winds have particularly impacted the Koshi region, while western hilly districts like Gulmi, Arghakhanchi and Palpa have seen fruit tree blossoms blown away.

Hailstorms have also damaged crops, especially barley and wheat, raising concerns among farmers, including those in orange-producing areas.

Mixed Weather in Kathmandu Valley
The Kathmandu Valley experienced light to moderate rainfall accompanied by wind, thunder and occasional hail. While some areas received heavier rain, others saw only strong winds.

Rain, Thunder and Snowfall Forecast
Rain and thunderstorms were recorded in hilly and mountainous regions of multiple provinces including Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali. The division has forecast continued cloud cover with chances of light rain, thunder and snowfall in high-altitude areas of Gandaki Province, Karnali Province and the far-west.

Snowfall Boosts Tourism in Mustang
Meanwhile, fresh snowfall has been reported in Mustang, including areas like Jomsom, Muktinath, Lomanthang and Thini. Snow accumulation is continuing in higher regions.

Tourism entrepreneur Nishan Tulachan said snowfall is expected to attract more visitors, especially domestic tourists. This marks the fourth snowfall in Mustang this year, bringing renewed optimism for the local tourism sector.
