Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged the public to remain on high alert as severe weather is expected across various parts of Nepal over the next few days.
Heavy Rain and Snowfall Forecast
According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology Nepal, hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province may experience heavy rainfall and snowfall for the next three days.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division Nepal said the current conditions are influenced by a western low-pressure system along with local winds.
Risk of Strong and Destructive Winds
Strong winds are expected in parts of Lumbini Province, including Dang and Nepalgunj. Meanwhile, districts around Biratnagar, Dhankuta and Dharan may witness winds reaching up to 119 km/h until Saturday.
Authorities have warned that such winds could uproot trees, damage weak structures, and disrupt electricity and communication services.
Widespread Cloud Cover and Storm Activity
Most parts of the country are expected to remain cloudy, with chances of rain, thunderstorms, lightning and hail in several regions including Gandaki, Koshi and Bagmati provinces. Some areas may also witness moderate to heavy precipitation.
Public Urged to Stay Cautious
The authority has urged the general public, farmers, travelers and transport operators to remain cautious and plan activities accordingly, especially in areas likely to experience adverse weather.
It emphasized preparedness and awareness to minimize risks from potential disasters caused by the changing weather conditions.
