DP Aryal Set to Become Speaker Unopposed as Sole Candidate

Kathmandu: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has received only one nomination for the post of Speaker, with Dol Prasad Aryal emerging as the sole candidate within the stipulated timeframe.
According to Secretariat Spokesperson Ekram Giri, Aryal—Vice President of the Rastriya Swatantra Party—filed his candidacy between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM on Friday, the period designated for nomination registration.
His candidacy was proposed by Rabi Lamichhane and supported by Swarnim Wagle, Sobita Gautam, and Sunil Lamsal.
With the Rastriya Swatantra Party holding 182 seats in the 275-member House of Representatives, Aryal is almost certain to be elected as Speaker. He is expected to be declared elected unopposed during the House of Representatives meeting scheduled for Sunday.
Responding after filing his nomination, Aryal expressed his commitment to working within the framework of the Constitution and the law. He stated that the duties and authority of the Speaker are clearly defined, and he will carry out his responsibilities accordingly.
He added that the process of assuming the role is still ongoing and emphasized that, if given the responsibility, he will work in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal, the laws of the country, the interests of the people, and national priorities.
Aryal also assured that legislative responsibilities under his leadership would be carried out in a fair and just manner.
