Nearly 2,000 Drivers Penalised in Kathmandu Valley in 24 Hours
Traffic Police Collect Over Rs 5.1 Lakh in Revenue

Kathmandu: Traffic police booked 1,922 drivers for violating various traffic rules across the Kathmandu Valley over the past 24 hours, generating Rs. 511,501 in revenue for the state treasury.
According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, enforcement operations targeted a wide range of traffic offences as part of routine efforts to improve road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Drunk Driving and Speeding Among Major Violations
Of the total violations recorded, 92 drivers were penalised for driving under the influence of alcohol, while 139 were booked for speeding.
Traffic police also took action against 129 drivers for violating traffic signals and 78 for operating illegal ride-sharing services.
Lane Discipline and One-Way Violations Continue
Authorities also booked 41 drivers for failing to maintain proper lane discipline and 70 for driving on one-way roads.
In addition, 67 motorists were penalised for unnecessary honking in prohibited areas, while 10 vehicles were found operating with illegally tinted or blackened windows.
Majority Penalised for Other Traffic Offences
Apart from the major violations, 1,296 drivers were booked for various other breaches of traffic regulations.
The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office said regular monitoring and enforcement campaigns will continue to promote safer roads and encourage motorists to follow traffic laws responsibly.
