Kathmandu: The Muslim community is joyfully observing Bakra Eid, the second biggest festival in their calendar, throughout the country. This auspicious occasion is celebrated on the 70th day of Eid-ul-Fitr or Ramadan.

Muslims begin the day by taking a morning bath and then proceed to the nearest mosque to participate in a mass prayer called Namaj. After the completion of the prayer, they exchange warm greetings by embracing one another.

The mosques across the country, including the Nepali Jame Masjid in Durbar Marga, Kathmandu, and Kashmiri Masjid, will witness a significant gathering of Muslim devotees on this occasion. The festivities will continue until the upcoming Saturday.

To honor the significance of Eid-al-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, the government has declared Thursday (today) as a public holiday.

Bakra Eid holds immense cultural and religious significance for the Muslim community, and it is a time for joy, unity, and gratitude.
