Kathmandu: The national flag carrier of Thailand, Thai Airways International, has officially resumed its flight service between Kathmandu and Bangkok, marking a significant milestone in Nepal's post-COVID-19 aviation recovery.

The airline had suspended its Kathmandu-Bangkok flights on March 25, 2020, due to the global pandemic. However, following extensive preparations and safety measures, they have now recommenced their operations.

Pratap Babu Tiwari, the General Manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), confirmed the resumption of Thai Airways International's flights, bringing relief to travelers and further boosting Nepal's air travel sector.

In addition to Thai Airways International, its subsidiary, Thai Smile, has also restarted its flights to Kathmandu, aligning with the positive trend of airlines returning to Nepal.

Thai Airways International has a long-standing history in Nepal, commencing its service in the country back in December 1968. This resumption signifies a return to normalcy and a positive step toward the revival of international travel in Nepal.

The TIA Office has noted that this development reflects the restoration of Nepal's international flights to pre-COVID-19 levels, indicating a promising outlook for the country's aviation industry.
