Tanahun: Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality in Tanahun district marked a historic achievement by exporting marigold flowers to Doha, Qatar. The flowers, cultivated by the Yanchok Mothers' Group and Andhimul Mothers' Group, represent the first-ever commercial flower export from the region.

This initiative has not only put an end to the trend of importing flowers but has also become a significant source of income for women in the village. Sunita Alemagar, the Chairwoman of Yanchok Mothers' Group, expressed satisfaction with the income generated through flower sales, attributing it to the support received from the rural municipality office.

The rural municipality provided technical assistance and grants for flower seeds, contributing to the promotion of women's income generation through flower production. Santosh KC, Chief of the Agriculture Section of Anbukhaireni Rural Municipality, reported that 85 kilograms of marigold from 21 ropani of land were exported to Qatar, with each kilogram fetching Rs 550.

The export order came from Sudan Flower in Doha's Regency Market, signifying a positive step towards economic growth and empowerment for the women involved in flower cultivation in Anbukhaireni.
