House of Representatives Secures a 4-0 Victory Over National Assembly in Friendly Futsal Match

Kathmandu: On the occasion of the 17th Parliament Service Day, the House of Representatives (HoR) triumphed over the National Assembly (NA) with a score of 4-0 in a friendly futsal match held at the Bhrikutimandap futsal court. The 20-minute match saw lawmaker Madhav Sapkota scoring two goals for the HoR, while Biraj Bhakta Shrestha and Bishwo Prakash Sharma each contributed one goal to secure the victory.

The HoR futsal team, led by Speaker Devraj Ghimire, showcased a spirited performance against the NA team captained by NA Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina. Other members of the HoR squad included Deputy Speaker Indira Rana and lawmakers Manish Jha, Pradip Yadav, Taraman Lama, and Madhav Sapkota. The NA team featured members such as Ramesh Jung Rayamajhi, Gopi Achhami, Maya Prasad Sharma, Dr. Khimlal Devkota, and Bhairab Sundar Shrestha.

Speaker Ghimire highlighted that celebrating Parliament Service Day with a friendly futsal match aims to promote sports, particularly futsal, among the youth. He drew parallels between sports and politics, stating that both involve physical and ideological aspects.

NA Chair Timilsina emphasized the importance of sports for fostering discipline and unity, encouraging the youth to engage in sports activities. Deputy Speaker Rana expressed the need for parliamentarians to participate in sports like futsal, providing a break from their responsibilities in parliamentary affairs for mental well-being.

The friendly futsal match was part of a larger tournament involving a total of 22 futsal teams, including five women's teams, further promoting sports engagement within the parliamentary community.
