Beijing: On Saturday, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) announced its commitment to a substantial increase in direct flights between China and the United States throughout 2024.

Official data indicates that regular, direct passenger flights between the world's two largest economies have already risen to 63 per week. The CAAC aims to further enhance these air travel connections, fostering increased collaboration and ease of movement between the nations.

In addition to the focus on the U.S., China has plans to actively expand air traffic rights arrangements with Belt and Road countries. The Belt and Road Initiative is a global infrastructure development strategy that involves investments in numerous countries to strengthen economic ties.

Moreover, the CAAC intends to deepen cooperation with regions including Central Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. This strategic approach aligns with China's broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with nations across multiple continents.

As part of these initiatives, the CAAC is set to work on improving visa and border control policies. The goal is to streamline processes for travelers and facilitate customs clearance, contributing to a more efficient and accessible international air travel experience.
