Kathmandu: The committee assigned to investigate the sale and purchase of Ncell shares, a prominent private-sector telecommunication service provider, handed over its comprehensive report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' at Singha Durbar on Monday.

Committee Coordinator Tanka Mani Sharma Dangal presented the report in the presence of Rekha Sharma, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology.

Initiated by the government on December 7, the probe committee, led by former Auditor General Sharma, aimed to scrutinize compliance with existing laws related to the decision on Ncell share transactions, revenue implications, and potential impacts on foreign investments.

The committee comprised government officials, including Secretary Phanindra Gautam, Joint-Secretary of the Finance Ministry Ritesh Kumar Shakya, Joint-Secretary of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Baburam Bhandari, and ICAN President Sujan Kumar Kafle.

Despite an initial one-month timeline for the report submission, the committee was granted an extension due to delays in completing the investigation within the set timeframe.
