Renowned Singer and Musician, Bhakta Raj Acharya, Passes Away at 82

Kathmandu: Renowned singer and musician Bhakta Raj Acharya, honored with the title 'Bhajan Shiromani,' breathed his last at the age of 82 on Monday. The veteran artist succumbed to health complications while being rushed to Medicity Hospital after a sudden decrease in oxygen levels, as reported by musician Chetan Sapkota.

Acharya, celebrated for his contribution to music, has left an indelible mark with nearly 400 songs, including classics like 'Mutu Jali Rahechha,' 'Jati Chot Dinchhau,' 'Jaha Chhan Buddhaka Ankha,' and 'Maya Meri Sanjha Bihan.'

The late Acharya's body will be placed for tributes at the Academy of Music and Drama on Tuesday at 9:00 am, as shared by musician Sapkota. Bhakta Raj Acharya's sons, Satya Raj and Swarup Raj, also actively contribute to the field of music.

President Ram Chandra Paudel expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the esteemed artist. In a social media post, President Paudel conveyed his heartfelt tribute to Bhajan Shiromani Acharya, acknowledging the significant loss to the music community. He extended profound condolences to the grieving family members. Acharya's demise marks the end of an era in the Nepali music industry.
