Federal Civil Service Bill Presented in Parliament

Kathmandu: Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration, Bhanubhakta Joshi, introduced the 'Federal Civil Service Bill, 2024' in the House of Representatives today.

Minister Joshi stated that the bill aims to regulate government employees' service terms, conditions, and facilities in alignment with the federal structure. He emphasized that the legislation is essential for implementing administrative restructuring corresponding to the State's restructuring.

The bill seeks to establish the Federal Civil Service Act to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative system, ensuring political neutrality, professionalism, inclusivity, and integrity among civil servants. Minister Joshi highlighted the bill's importance in promoting good governance and accountability.

Furthermore, the bill aims to streamline employee management across federal, provincial, and local levels. The proposal was introduced in the House following the government's registration of the bill on March 4.

In the House session, a motion of dissent by lawmaker Prem Suwal against the proposal was rejected by a majority vote.
