Ranjha (Banke): The Muslim community in Nepal joyously observed Eid-ul-Fitr, a significant festival marking the culmination of the month-long Ramadan fasting period, today with great enthusiasm. Following the conclusion of the rigorous fasting, which ended on Wednesday, Muslims congregated at the BP Chowk-based Idgah to offer mass prayers and recite Namaz, traditional prayers, praying for lasting peace, prosperity, and harmony in the nation and among their community, stated Maulana Abdul Jabbar Manjari, a Muslim religious leader.
Various individuals and representatives from political parties, the business sector, and diverse organizations participated in the Eid greetings-exchange ceremony, where warm embraces and heartfelt well-wishes were shared among all attendees. Mohammed Harun Halawai, a Muslim leader from Nepalgunj, remarked on the festive ambiance in the city, with people relishing special delicacies and celebrating with fervor.
Throughout the month of Ramadan, Muslims observed rigorous fasting and performed Namaz five times a day, refraining from sinful actions and maintaining a sense of discipline and piety. For those unable to fast due to health reasons, the tradition entails offering food to individuals from impoverished communities for a month.
Meanwhile, in Mohattari, the Muslim community also marked Eid with fervent celebrations. In settlements where Hindus and Muslims reside together, mutual respect and camaraderie were evident as they exchanged Eid greetings. In Jaleshwor, Hindus visited the homes of their Muslim friends to convey their heartfelt wishes, illustrating the strong social cohesion and cultural harmony prevalent in the area.
Mayor Suresh Sah Sonar lauded the community's spirit of unity, emphasizing the exemplary display of social bonding and goodwill. This tradition of mutual exchange of festival greetings is deeply rooted in Mithila culture and traditions, where Hindus and Muslims actively participate in each other's celebrations.
District Coordination Committee Chief Suman Kumar Lal Karna highlighted the emotional significance of such communal bonding, attributing it to the profound influence of Buddhist philosophy in the region. He expressed pride in the harmonious coexistence and shared festivities observed throughout the district.
