ILO Director-General Expresses Gratitude to President Paudel

Kathmandu: ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo paid a courtesy call on President Ram Chandra Paudel, who is currently in Geneva, Switzerland, for the High-Level event of the 112th International Labour Conference and the Inaugural Session of the Global Coalition for Social Justice.

During the meeting, Director-General Houngbo expressed his gratitude to President Paudel for taking the time to address the event. He commended President Paudel's political career and his dedication to social justice. The ILO has been a strong advocate for decent labor practices, aiming to create jobs, ensure social security, and improve international living standards.

Houngbo also showed interest in President Paudel's political struggles and his 15-year imprisonment for democracy in Nepal.

President Paudel thanked Director-General Houngbo for the invitation to attend and speak at the ILO event. He highlighted Nepal's focus on development with a priority on social justice, emphasizing that the country's constitution robustly addresses social justice, equality, labor rights, and trade union rights. Paudel also reaffirmed Nepal's commitment to protecting and promoting children's rights, including the eradication of child labor.
