Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' will seek a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives following recent political developments. The decision was made during a meeting of the CPN (Maoist Centre) office-bearers this morning.

Maoist Centre General Secretary Devendra Poudel announced that the Prime Minister would "face Parliament and go for a proposal of vote of confidence." Discussions will be held with all parties, including the Rastriya Swatantra Party and the main opposition, the Nepali Congress, regarding this vote.

Party spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota stated that Chair Dahal provided a preliminary briefing on the latest political developments during the meeting. The current political landscape poses a significant risk to the ruling coalition due to a new alliance forming between the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN UML.

The NC and UML have decided to form a new alliance and amend the constitution. Last night, top leaders of both parties, including NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, finalized an agreement. The agreement includes establishing a commission to recommend amendments to the electoral system and deciding on ministerial portfolio distribution in the new government.

For several days, Deuba and Oli have been in regular dialogue to form this new alliance. Deuba confirmed during a meeting of party office-bearers that he had positive discussions with Oli.

In light of these developments, the NC, UML, CPN (Maoist Centre), and Rastriya Swatantra Party are holding meetings to discuss their next steps. CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel shared on Facebook that an agreement has been reached to form a national coalition government under Oli's leadership. This coalition aims to amend the constitution and formulate new laws, including support from other political parties.

Prime Minister Dahal's move to seek a vote of confidence is a response to the shifting political alliances and the potential impact on the ruling coalition.
