Kathmandu: Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has declared that the coalition between the NC and CPN (UML) aims to establish a stable and robust government. During the House of Representatives (HoR) session, Deuba backed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's proposal for a vote of confidence, emphasizing the coalition's commitment to stability, rapid economic development, job creation, and physical infrastructure enhancement. This proposal was presented under Article 76 (4) of the Constitution.

The recent political alliance between the NC and UML led to the formation of the government headed by UML Chair Oli last Sunday. Deuba highlighted that amending the constitution is a normal democratic process, and any future amendments will seek consensus among all political parties.

"It has been eight years since the promulgation of the Constitution. It is a usual process to amend the country's main law in democracy if it is warranted to strengthen the constitution. We are clear that it will be appropriate to proceed with the amendment through wider dialogues and consensus at the political parties," Deuba stated.

He expressed optimism that the new government would accelerate economic activities and establish lasting peace by overcoming the economic slowdown. Deuba emphasized the government's focus on creating domestic job opportunities, increasing revenue collections, and fulfilling the people's aspirations for development.

The NC President also stressed the importance of good governance and corruption prevention, pledging to promote the rule of law, enforce the constitution fully, foster an investment-friendly environment, boost domestic production, and create jobs.

Praising Prime Minister Oli as a hardworking, knowledgeable, and experienced leader, Deuba expressed confidence in the competence of the cabinet members. "I hope under the guidance of the Oli-led government, the nation will find a path to prosperity. The government formed to take the country towards political stability will succeed in its mission."

Deuba reaffirmed NC's full commitment to implementing the July 1 seven-point agreement reached with the UML. He assured that the NC would support the vote of confidence for Prime Minister Oli and urged other political parties in the parliament to do the same.
