Nepali Marathon Runner Santoshi Finishes 79th in Paris Olympics

Kathmandu: Nepali marathon runner Santoshi Shrestha secured the 79th position in the Women's Marathon at the Paris Olympics 2024. Competing in the French capital today, Santoshi completed the race in two hours, 55 minutes, and six seconds. This was her first time participating in the Olympics, having qualified through a wild card entry.

A total of 92 athletes participated in the marathon. Sifan Hassan from the Netherlands won the gold medal, finishing in two hours, 22 minutes, and 55 seconds. The silver medal went to Assefa from Ethiopia, who also clocked two hours, 22 minutes, and 55 seconds. Hallen Obiri from Kenya took the bronze with a time of two hours, 23 minutes, and 13 seconds.

With Santoshi's performance, Nepal's participation in the Paris Olympics has come to an end. Other Nepali athletes, including Santoo Shrestha in table tennis, Susmita Nepal in shooting, Duana Lama and Alexander Shah in swimming, Manita Shrestha Pradhan in judo, and Prince Dahal in badminton, were also eliminated earlier in the competition.
