173 People Die from Natural Disasters Since June 10

Kathmandu: Since June 10, a total of 173 people have lost their lives due to natural disasters, including landslides and floods, across various parts of Nepal. The fatalities have been reported as follows: three in Kathmandu Valley, 26 in Koshi Province, seven in Madhes Province, 31 in Bagmati Province, 54 in Gandaki Province, 33 in Lumbini Province, eight in Karnali Province, and 11 in Sudurpaschim Province, according to Deputy Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki, spokesperson at the Police Headquarters.

Additionally, 223 individuals have sustained injuries, with the highest number of injuries reported in Gandaki Province (46) and Karnali Province (54). Rescue operations have been carried out, with 28 people rescued in Kathmandu Valley and varying numbers across the other provinces.

The search continues for 48 missing persons, with most of the cases reported in Bagmati Province (41). The disasters have also caused significant property damage, with 384 houses inundated, 275 houses damaged, 104 huts, 43 bridges, two school buildings, and two government offices suffering various levels of destruction.

Furthermore, 4,322 families have been displaced, and 812 cattle have died as a result of these disasters. The authorities continue their efforts to manage the situation and provide relief to those affected.
