175 People Die in Nepal Due to Rain-Related Disasters Since June 10

Kathmandu: Since June 10, rain-related disasters have caused the deaths of 175 people across Nepal, as reported by the Nepal Police. Landslides and floods have affected many areas, including the Kathmandu Valley, where three people lost their lives during this period.

Koshi Province recorded 27 deaths, Madhes Province had eight, Bagmati Province 31, Gandaki Province 54, Lumbini Province 33, Karnali Province eight, and Sudurpaschim Province 11, bringing the total to 175, according to DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, the Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police.

In addition to the fatalities, 224 people have been injured in these disasters. Among the injured, 11 were from the Kathmandu Valley, 37 from Koshi Province, 11 from Madhes Province, 23 from Bagmati Province, 46 from Gandaki Province, 13 from Lumbini Province, 55 from Karnali Province, and 28 from Sudurpaschim Province. Police have rescued 113 people from these disaster-hit areas, including 28 from the Kathmandu Valley.

Moreover, 49 people are still missing due to the floods and landslides. Bagmati Province has the most missing persons with 41, while Lumbini Province has the fewest with just one missing person.

The disasters have also affected livestock, with 820 cattle reported dead. The floods and landslides have destroyed 286 houses, 105 cowsheds, 49 bridges, two schools, and two government office buildings. In the last two months, 4,472 families have been displaced by these events.
