Kathmandu: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Ramnath Adhikari has announced that the names of individuals who have misused substantial subsidies and grants from the Ministry will soon be made public. Speaking to media representatives at the ministry on Tuesday, Minister Adhikari revealed that billions of rupees have been distributed in subsidies over the past five to seven years, with details of these transactions to be disclosed shortly.

Highlighting a significant disconnect between the Ministry of Agriculture and actual farmers, Minister Adhikari expressed his commitment to bridging this gap. He also mentioned efforts to address the payments owed to sugarcane and dairy farmers. "Since I assumed office, Rs. 2.5 million has been paid to dairy farmers," he stated, adding that efforts are ongoing to settle the remaining dues.

On a broader note, the Minister acknowledged the public's growing disenchantment with political parties and emphasized the responsibility of the current alliance between the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) to restore public confidence. "There is no way to escape from responsibility," he said, inviting the media to hold him accountable and promising to accept criticism constructively.
