Mahendranagar (Dhanusha): The Bibaha Panchami Mahamahotsav, a grand week-long celebration commemorating the divine marriage of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, commenced today with the Nagar Darshan ritual at the Janaki Temple courtyard in Janakpurdham.
The festival marks the annual re-enactment of Lord Ram and Lakshman’s first visit to Janakpurdham, the capital of ancient Mithila. On the inaugural day, two children, symbolizing Ram and Lakshman, were ceremonially taken around the temple courtyard for Nagar Darshan, drawing throngs of devotees and pilgrims.
Devotees from across Nepal and neighboring India have gathered in large numbers to partake in this vibrant celebration of religious, cultural, and social significance.
Bibaha Panchami honors the marriage of Sita, daughter of King Janak, to Lord Ram, an event deeply cherished in Hindu mythology. The festival is a major attraction in Janakpurdham and is celebrated with great fervor and grandeur every year.
