Kathmandu: The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN-UML) has expelled senior leader Bhim Rawal from the party. The decision was made during the party’s secretariat meeting held at its office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, according to Deputy General Secretary Pradip Gyawali.

Gyawali explained that Rawal was removed due to his failure to fulfill his role as the party's central advisor. “Despite being offered the position of vice chairman during the 10th general convention, Rawal refused and instead contested for the party chairmanship. He later distanced himself from party activities, and his actions and remarks consistently weakened the party,” Gyawali stated.

In addition to Rawal's expulsion, the party also decided to relieve standing committee member Binda Pande and central member Usa Kiran Timilsena of their responsibilities for six months.

According to Gyawali, Pande and Timilsena were penalized for failing to provide satisfactory explanations regarding their comments on the construction of the party’s office building. Their remarks were deemed to have violated party norms and statutes.

“They disregarded the procedural manner required for such discussions and did not acknowledge their breach of party regulations,” Gyawali added.

The decisions highlight the party's emphasis on organizational discipline and adherence to its statutes.
