Kathmandu: Former CPN (UML) leader Dr. Bhim Bahadur Rawal has criticized the party's recent decision to expel him, calling it a violation of the party's statute, rule of law, and due process. The UML's Secretariat meeting on December 25 revoked his general membership, effectively expelling him from the party.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, his first public appearance since the expulsion, Dr. Rawal accused the party of taking retaliatory action against him for contesting the party Chair post during the 11th General Convention. He alleged that the move was politically motivated and unjustified.

Dr. Rawal, a former Vice Chair of the UML, announced plans to initiate a "Motherland Awareness Campaign" to engage with his well-wishers, supporters, and the public. He stated that his next steps would be guided by their feedback and sentiments.

Highlighting his political journey, Dr. Rawal emphasized his longstanding dedication to the nation, its people, and the party's principles. Identifying himself as a "nationalist leader," he recalled his candidacy for the UML's Chair post during the 11th National Congress and his leadership role in the party since 2032 BS.

Dr. Rawal has held several significant positions in the government, including Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Home Affairs, Minister for Defence, and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation. He expressed disappointment over his expulsion, reiterating his commitment to serving the country and upholding democratic values.
