Call for Dialogue on Pathivara Cable Car Dispute
Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has also emphasized the need for dialogue to resolve the ongoing dispute over the construction of the Pathivara cable car. On Monday evening, he held a meeting with stakeholders and representatives from the agitating side at the Home Ministry.
During the meeting, the Home Minister stressed that all concerned parties must take the issue seriously and work towards resolving differences to advance development projects. The discussion was prompted by the failure of negotiations between the government’s talk team and the agitating side on Sunday.
CPN-UML leader Yogesh Bhattarai and representatives from the indigenous community were also present at the meeting. According to Home Ministry Spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari, the agitating side met with the Home Minister and reiterated their demand for a high-level talks team to address their concerns.
Minister Lekhak reaffirmed that a peaceful approach is essential in finding a solution to the dispute. The Pathivara cable car project, which aims to improve access to the famous pilgrimage site in Taplejung, has recently sparked controversy, requiring urgent resolution through consensus.
