Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed confidence that democracy will strengthen national unity while ensuring social justice, equality, goodwill, and prosperity.

In a message marking National Democracy Day 2081 BS, President Paudel emphasized that the people are the ultimate source of state power. He highlighted that this day is a prideful and historic moment, symbolizing the struggles and sacrifices of martyrs who secured Nepal’s sovereignty for its citizens.

He further noted that Nepal’s transition to a federal democratic republic is a great achievement, attained after over seven decades of struggle. The President also recalled how the Constitution of Nepal envisions a socialism-oriented economy, built on the principles of justice and equality.

Expressing optimism, President Paudel stated that Nepal is on a positive path forward based on its democratic achievements. He urged all elected representatives, political parties, and state institutions to remain committed to upholding constitutional values.

Vice President Yadav Stresses Political and Economic Democracy
Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, in his Democracy Day message, emphasized the importance of institutionalizing federal democracy, inclusion, secularism, rule of law, and sovereignty.

He called for ending poverty, discrimination, poor education, and unemployment to make Nepal’s federal democratic system a success. He also stated that democracy should not be limited to governance alone, but should shape social ideals, traditions, culture, and values.

Vice President Yadav stressed that in a true democracy, no one should be privileged or discriminated against based on caste, religion, race, or gender. He further emphasized the need for an alliance between political and economic democracy to ensure Nepal’s long-term stability and prosperity.
