Nawalpur (Nawalparasi): Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak asserted on Saturday that there is no alternative to the republican system in Nepal. Speaking at a program in Gaindakot, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta Purva), the Minister emphasized that portraying the republican period as unproductive is misleading.

“I am not denying that the country faces challenges,” Minister Lekhak said. “We are dealing with unemployment, underdeveloped infrastructure in sectors like education and the economy, and slower-than-expected economic growth. But to claim that nothing has happened during the republic era is simply not true. Despite many obstacles, significant progress has been made.”

He stressed the government's commitment to identifying and harnessing key areas of development potential across the country, adding that collective efforts from all sectors of society are crucial to advancing national progress.

Minister Lekhak also cautioned against false narratives undermining the achievements of the republican period. “Totalitarianism cannot replace democracy, and monarchy cannot be an alternative to the republic,” he declared.

Highlighting gains made since the establishment of the republic, he pointed to improvements in healthcare, education, and other sectors. However, he acknowledged that much remains to be done, particularly in the area of job creation.

“We have made significant achievements, but we must continue working to bring about further progress,” he said.
