Kathmandu: The Hindu festival of Ram Nawami is being celebrated across Nepal today with religious devotion, marking the birth of Lord Shri Ramchandra, the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

According to scriptures, Shri Ramchandra was born on Chaitra Shukla Nawami to King Dasharatha and Queen Kausalya in Ayodhya during the Treta Yuga. Devotees across the country are worshipping Lord Ram at various shrines and temples, observing rituals including fasting, bathing in holy rivers, and reciting the Ramayana.

As part of the celebrations, Ramlila performances are being held in Janakpur, Nepal and Ayodhya, India. Thousands of devotees from both countries have gathered at the Ram Janaki Temple in Janakpur, where a grand fair has been organized.

Chairperson of the Nepal Calendar Determination and Development Committee, Prof Dr Ramchandra Gautam, highlighted that Ram Nawami serves as a reminder of the values of dignity, discipline, and righteous leadership embodied by Lord Ram.

In celebration of the occasion, President Ramchandra Paudel extended his best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad, emphasizing the festival's role in preserving ancient traditions and promoting national unity. He expressed hope that festivals like Ram Nawami will deepen mutual trust and cultural harmony among Nepal's diverse communities.

Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav also conveyed his greetings, stating that Ram Nawami is not only a religious celebration but also an opportunity to embrace the ideals of truth, righteousness, and service.
