Kathmandu: CPN (UML) leader Raghuji Pant has been appointed as the new Minister for Education, Science and Technology, following the resignation of Bidya Bhattarai due to health reasons.
President Ramchandra Paudel made the appointment on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Pant’s appointment comes two days after Bhattarai officially stepped down from the post on April 21.
Pant, who is a Member of Parliament elected under the proportional representation system from the CPN (UML), currently serves on the State Affairs Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR).
The newly appointed minister is set to take the oath of office and secrecy on Thursday. His appointment marks a key change in the education portfolio at a time when Nepal's education sector faces calls for reform and modernization.
